In this 12-week self-paced creative writing course, students will create original stories inspired by cats of every kind—from adventurous kittens and clever detectives to magical felines, brave warriors, and pampered house cats with big personalities.
Each lesson includes an engaging video writing lesson and a creative challenge designed to help students brainstorm, write, and develop their storytelling skills. Learners can move through the course on their own schedule while building a collection of original cat-themed stories.

Students are welcome to write a brand-new story with each lesson or continue developing favorite characters and worlds throughout the course.
Students will receive downloadable writing resources designed especially for cat-loving writers!
Throughout the course, students may submit writing for personalized instructor feedback. Feedback focuses on helping young writers grow while celebrating their unique voices and ideas.
By the end of the course, students will have a collection of original cat-themed stories.
For their final project, writers will choose their favorite story from the course and create an illustrated book cover for it. They’ll explore how covers use images, titles, and design choices to give readers clues about the adventure inside.

Students write original stories each week — creating characters, settings, plots, and conflicts through cat-themed prompts that build narrative skills in an age-appropriate, low-pressure environment.

Students practice producing writing appropriate to task and purpose — experimenting with mystery, fantasy, and adventure — and complete a final illustrated book cover alongside their polished favorite story.

A dedicated revision lesson (Week Eleven) introduces young writers to simple techniques for improving their own work — with optional personalized instructor feedback available throughout the course to celebrate each student's voice and encourage growth.

Students write consistently across 12 weeks, building a collection of original cat-themed stories and developing a regular writing habit and growing confidence over an extended time frame.
