Parent testimonials
This is an absolutely fantastic class. My daughter is a very reluctant writer - until we found this class! She loves this class and is always is so excited to show me her writings after class.
— Celine G.

In this 12-week version of our flagship Weekly Short Story (Under Age 10) class, students write a brand-new story every week—with a brand-new focus area to get them excited about trying something different.

One week we might work on creating a character with a BIG problem. Another week, we might play with spooky settings, animal narrators, fairy tale twists, mysteries, superheroes, or stories where everything goes hilariously wrong. Each class feels fresh, so students don’t get stuck staring at the same old story for weeks and weeks. Underneath all that variety, the skills connect!

Students aren’t just writing twelve random stories—they’re building a real storytelling toolbox. Over the twelve weeks, they’ll practice creating characters, shaping problems, building plots, using description, experimenting with genre, and learning how to turn a tiny idea into a complete story. Every week gives them something new to try, while quietly adding another layer to their confidence as writers.

Students will also receive handouts connected to each week’s focus area. These are there to support the day’s writing, but students can return to them later whenever they need help getting started, building a character, creating a problem, or figuring out what should happen next.

This class is designed to make writing feel possible, playful, and exciting. It’s a great fit for enthusiastic writers who always have ideas, reluctant writers who need a little help getting started, and anyone who benefits from a low-pressure class where the goal is to create, experiment, and actually write.

What We’ll Do

Each week, students will:

  • Explore a new story focus area
  • Learn a specific storytelling skill or technique
  • Receive a handout connected to the day’s lesson
  • Brainstorm ideas together
  • Write an original short story during class
  • Share their work if they choose
  • Receive in-class feedback and encouragement if they share
  • Build confidence through steady, creative practice

Students are also invited to keep working on their stories after class. If they want to polish a piece and send it to the teacher, they may submit it for written feedback. This is completely optional—some students love revising and turning in work, while others are happiest simply creating something new each week.

Why Parents Love This Class

This class keeps writing fresh while still helping students grow over time. Because every week has a new focus, students get lots of chances to discover what kind of stories they love writing most. Because the skills build on one another, they also become stronger storytellers without the class ever feeling repetitive or worksheet-heavy.

Students leave with more than twelve stories. They leave with practice, confidence, and a growing sense that writing is something they can actually do.
